The Brain & Mind Research Institute (BMRI) provides essential services for mental health and neurological patients, bringing together patients, their support groups, research scientists and clinicians to provide support and hope for those afflicted.
Fairbrother Joinery was responsible for the architectural fit-out of the BMRI’s Sydney facility within a broad-ranging design brief. Sydney Blue Gum planter boxes incorporate laminate surfaces and high quality two-pack paint finishes. Counters feature toughened glass fronts and tops trimmed with anodised aluminium – two of which incorporate lead lining to provide protection from residual radiation to employees in the clinical area.
Tas Oak veneer wall panelling features extensively throughout and a flight of Sydney Blue Gum stairs and handrails has been installed. Two large screens – one of which is fully operable – have also been manufactured from the local blue gum timber.
All of the joinery elements for this visually striking and yet highly functional fit-out were manufactured in Devonport, before being carefully transported to Sydney for installation by Tasmanian tradesmen.
