Constructed on a greenfield site in Armstrong Creek, the 5,091m² facility provides a flexible and inclusive sporting
destination featuring four multi-purpose courts capable of accommodating basketball, netball, volleyball, badminton and
pickleball. The centre also incorporates community change rooms, a commercial kitchen, staff amenities, club storage,
umpire facilities, and dedicated sensory, parenting and multifaith rooms to support broad community participation.
In addition to the construction of the stadium, Fairbrother delivered significant supporting infrastructure including road
network extensions, drainage upgrades, utility connections and extensive landscaping works. Working collaboratively
with the client and stakeholders, the team addressed several complex challenges associated with Green Star
accreditation, authority service coordination, acoustic performance requirements and specialised sports flooring
tolerances. Innovative solutions, including self-performing authority connection works and the use of advanced laserscreed
technology, helped streamline delivery, reduce programme risk and maintain quality outcomes.
Targeting a 5-Star Green Star rating, the project also demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainable construction,
locally sourced materials and social procurement outcomes. Notably, the specified imported maple sports flooring was
replaced with locally sourced Blackbutt timber, supporting both sustainability objectives and local industry.
Completed ahead of the original contracted completion date, Tarratarra Stadium provides the Armstrong Creek and
Greater Geelong communities with a modern, accessible and future-focused sporting hub that will support participation,
recreation and community connection for generations to come.
