Size matters when it comes to warehouses and this project impresses; comprising a 4,600m2 freezer operating at -24 degrees C, a 7,700m2 chiller and staging area at 2 degrees C, a further extension to the existing staging area and a total of 23 additional truck loading docks, serviced by new dock office space and amenities.

Externally, the extension is complemented by an addition to the existing carpark, and sizeable concrete hardstand for truck manoeuvring.

A purpose-built plant room accommodating the substantial refrigeration services equipment, alongside a switch room, provides the heartbeat that brings this facility to life.

In a project of this size and nature, services co-ordination is vital and Fairbrother’s project team was diligent in ongoing coordination and management to deliver the project successfully.

A challenging contract program was devised to meet timelines for peak retail activity in the grocery trade. Careful planning and execution of critical activities by the project team – such as the scheduling and pouring of large concrete slabs with minimal tolerances to the entire warehouse area – enabled project completion to be as contracted.
