Scholarships

The Fairbrother Foundation formed a partnership with the UTAS Foundation in 2008 to support keen students to undertake an undergraduate degree at the University of Tasmania. Since 2008, the UTAS Foundation has awarded a 3-year Fairbrother Foundation Scholarship to more than 30 students, enabling many to successfully undertake university study.

To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must have a parent employed by Fairbrother Pty Ltd or Degree C Pty Ltd (an entity owned by Fairbrother) and preferably be entering the first year of their degree. The Fairbrother Foundation Scholarship currently provides recipients with $7,500 per year for the full term of the undergraduate degree.

The Fairbrother Foundation Scholarship has been in place since 2008. An endeavour to support the children of Fairbrother and Degree C employees pursuing university studies, the scholarship provides $7,500 per year for the full term of their undergraduate degree at the University of Tasmania.

In 2024 we introduced the Fairbrother Foundation Construction Industry Scholarship.

This new scholarship is available to students commencing study in a Bachelor of Architecture and Built Environments, or a Bachelor of Engineering, with the study of double degrees included.

Selection is based on demonstrated ability to succeed in the course, and financial need. No connection to Fairbrother is required. The successful candidate will be offered work experience and potentially a graduate opportunity with Fairbrother.

The Scholarship provides $7,500 per year for the full term of the undergraduate degree.

The inaugural recipient in 2025 was Flynn Austin, and the 2026 recipient is Chloe Peters.

From 2018-2025, the Fairbrother Foundation partnered with the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) to offer a $7,500 scholarship to a first-year nursing student from an outer regional or remote area of Tasmania. The scholarship includes a one-week experience at an RFDS base, either on in Tasmania or interstate.  Scholarship recipients have included Sharni Walker (2019), Eve Bell (2020), Justine Barrett (2021), Ericka McKinnon (2022), Brooklyn Turner (2023), Taylor Jones (2024) and Shilah Crane (2025).

In 2026, this Scholarship was changed to the RFDS David Ingram Physical Health Scholarship and now provides a RDFS placement experience for two UTAS final year Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science students.  The Scholarship name change honours the incredible service to Fairbrother and the Fairbrother Foundation by David Ingram, a former long-term employee of Fairbrother and close friend to Fairbrother Cofounder, Royce Fairbrother, who sadly passed away in 2025.

The inaugural (2026) recipients of this Scholarship are Darcy Barker and Gemma Shaw.

Starting in 2024, the Fairbrother Foundation entered a new partnership with Deakin University in Victoria to provide financial support to passionate young people who are experiencing an area of hardship to enter the construction industry via an education pathway.

The Fairbrother Foundation Construction Management Scholarship at Deakin University is worth $7,500 per year, as well as providing possible opportunities for work experience if appropriate.

The inaugural (2024) recipient of this scholarship was Marcel Abou Kirche, studying a Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours). The 2025 recipient was Joel Holden, who like Marcel, is studying a Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) at Deakin’s  Geelong Waterfront Campus.
