Burnie Courts

In June, Fairbrother officially commenced construction of the new Burnie Courts Complex, a landmark project that will deliver modern, fit-for-purpose judicial infrastructure for Tasmania’s North-West community.
Located at 106 Wilson Street in the heart of Burnie’s CBD, the new four-storey facility will improve access to justice by bringing together a Supreme Court, three Magistrates Courts and an additional shared fourth courtroom to support future demand.
Designed to provide a safe, secure and accessible environment for court users, staff and stakeholders, the purpose-built complex will feature courtrooms, holding cells, court chambers, public lobby spaces, support facilities and parking. The project also includes the integration of sophisticated audiovisual technology and electronic security systems, ensuring the facility is equipped to support the needs of a modern justice system.
Construction is taking place within a busy CBD environment, requiring careful coordination alongside neighbouring businesses and a childcare facility. Extensive planning, complex earthworks and geotechnical management will also play a critical role in the successful delivery of the project.
Fairbrother is proud to partner with the Tasmanian Government and Department of Justice on this significant investment in the region, which is expected to support local employment, stimulate economic activity and contribute to the continued revitalisation of the Burnie CBD.
Adding further value to the project, the Burnie Courts Complex includes a 12-month Comprehensive Maintenance period, which will be delivered by Fairbrother’s own Facilities Management team, ensuring the building continues to perform at the highest standard following completion.
Congratulations to our North-West and Facility Management teams for their outstanding work in securing and commencing this important project that will serve the community for generations to come.
