Craig Edmunds

Chairman

Craig has built an extensive knowledge of the construction industry. He started with first-hand experience completing a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship and spending seven years on the tools before commencing as a Contracts Administrator with Fairbrother.

He quickly progressed into an Estimator/ Project Manager and, in 1991, embraced the role of Northern Division Manager by opening a Fairbrother office in Launceston.

As Craig’s leadership developed so did his progression in the company, becoming the CEO and Managing Director in 2003.

Under Craig’s leadership, Fairbrother has grown significantly. This growth has included the acquisition of Degree C, Tasmania’s largest multi-disciplined building services company, and also a Bendigo-based construction company.

Craig has been instrumental in driving the Fairbrother expansion across regional Victoria, as well as establishing a Project Developments business arm. He is responsible for developing a joint venture relationship with John Holland, which has successfully delivered major projects such as the Risdon Prison, Menzies Medical Sciences Centre, Institute for Marine and Antarctic Sciences, and, most recently, the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Craig’s passion to see an increase in skills development and training in the industry saw him serve on the Tasmanian Building and Construction Training Board from 2005- 2017, including a term as Deputy Chair.

His desire to contribute to the industry also resulted in him being elected to the Master Builders Tasmania State Council in 2010, where he served as State President from 2014-2016.

In 2015, he was appointed to the Master Builders Australia National Board, serving as Chair of the Finance Committee from 2017 before his unanimous appointment as President in 2022.
In July 2021, after 18 years as CEO, Craig was appointed Chair of Fairbrother.
