| About |
Design and construct project for two separate wings – the Maynard Wing and the Barrett Wing. |
Glenview Nursing Home – Maynard Wing ($4.5 million)
The Glenview Nursing Home adds to Fairbrother’s growing portfolio of nursing and aged care facilities. Maynard Wing was a negotiated project consisting of brick and concrete construction of an additional 45 residents’ rooms, nursing facilities, dining rooms and common areas.
Works, carried out over an 8-month period, were distributed over four floor levels connected by a passenger lift, and were supplemented with external carparking and landscaped areas.
The new building was positioned amongst several existing buildings and linkways were constructed to provide easy access between new and old facilities. In the new building, extensive use was made of glass curtain walls and high ceilings to allow natural light into the building and successfully create an internal feeling of openness.
Glenview Nursing Home – Barrett Wing
The Barrett Wing of the Glenview Nursing Home was a negotiated project constructed over a 4-month period. It involved the construction of 7 additional residents’ rooms, associated nursing areas, refurbishment of several existing residents’ rooms, ensuite extensions and considerable landscaping works.
A challenging component of the project was the need to extensively demolish several existing buildings prior to building works commencing.
Demolition works included the removal of the top level of an existing 2-storey building while residents continued to live in their rooms below. A new building was then partially constructed over this remaining level, again without significant disruption to residents residing below.
