Stunningly outfitted lounge

The Observatory is a sensational new tapas / wine bar and nightclub operating from the upper level of Hobart’s Murray Street Pier, which with its striking exterior signage, stunningly outfitted lounge and bar spaces and unparalleled waterfront views, has quickly become one of Hobart’s hottest venues to relax after work, celebrate with friends, or dance away the night.

Fairbrother was instrumental in assisting our client achieve their required multiple bars and outdoor areas, and through a careful structural redesign and demolition of previous interior and balcony areas provided a facility that includes a main bar with outdoor smoking area, a 30 seat waiter-serviced VIP area, an additional 150 capacity bar and lounge area, and a full commercial kitchen.

Exemplary attention to detail

Fairbrother achieved the bar’s sumptuous and memorable feel via a luxurious fit out with exemplary attention to detail, with superior finishes including Corian and granite for the bars, stainless steel, seratone (a highly specialised interior wall panelling product), rough sawn blackwood lining boards, shimmer screen (an amazing 450kg metal screen providing the bar’s backdrop), polyurethane paint finishes, specialty laminates and glass and mirror.
Fairbrother’s ability to carefully plan and project manage the work was critical in ensuring premises situated both alongside and below the Observatory suffered minimal disruption during the demolition and construction phases.  Fairbrother’s deliberate planning also permitted a staged completion of multiple areas that maximised access for multiple sub-trades in the tight confined space, thereby providing time and cost savings for our client.
