Substantial enlargement

Fairbrother was engaged to undertake a major extension to the existing Legana Commercial Centre that comprised a substantial enlargement of the existing supermarket, the addition of four new specialty shops, a new Arcade/Entry with a striking epoxy feature floor, and a carpark upgrade which involved extending the existing carpark and constructing a staff carpark and access road.
Our client required all existing shops, including the supermarket, to continue to trade throughout the construction period.  The Fairbrother team met this challenge by developing a staged construction plan that still adhered to our client’s timeline requirements. The supermarket extension, which included a refurbishment of all preparation areas and the addition of a bakery and meat preparation area, was carried out over seven stages, with each stage hoarded off and noisy works conducted out of hours.

Complete fit-out works

The supermarket enlargement also included extending and upsizing the air conditioning system duct work without compromising the air conditioning requirements of the existing store during the works.

A major cost saving was achieved by temporarily supporting the existing supermarket roof structure to allow removal of the existing pre-cast panel end wall. These panels were then reused in the new created extension.  Fairbrother was also able to complete fit-out works in conjunction with base building construction, expediting the completion of tenancies.
