A major upgrade

Fairbrother successfully tendered to construct a major upgrade to the Emmerton Park Aged Care Facility in Smithton, on the far North West coast of Tasmania.  The project involved expanding the facility by some 3,620m2, such that it now provides 61 beds (56 low care and 5 dementia), with the capacity to extend this to 80 beds if needed.
Through Fairbrother’s extension, the residents and health care team at Emmerton Park now enjoy the highest level of quality, safety and building standards, as well as numerous special features.

The new nurses’ stations meet best practice with the Questek Nurse Call System with Ascom Nira DECT phones and 24 hour video monitoring and electronic locking of all access and exits.

Superior quality Fairbrother joinery

The bedrooms benefit from Fairbrother’s careful installation of double glazed windows, thermal and sound insulation, en-suites, broadband and pay TV access, and overhead lifting systems.  The facility also includes an 80 seat chapel with superior quality Fairbrother joinery and integrated sound system and hearing loop, a fully equipped hairdressing salon, a commercial kitchen and laundry, a 1000m2 internal courtyard and separate secure courtyard for the Dementia wing, two doctor’s treatment rooms with remote connection to the Smithton Medical Centre, and a 20 space carpark.
Given Emmerton Park’s close connection with its local community, Fairbrother provided a key win for the client by being able to utilise local specialist contractors and suppliers for some $2 million worth of works and supplies.
