Flexible approach

This high profile, Hobart CBD project involved the creation of an additional 2000m2 of premium quality office space in an area that was previously the mechanical plant room for 188 Collins Street, followed by the incorporation of a high quality office fit-out some 15 storeys up. Demonstrating Fairbrother's flexible approach to meeting client needs, the project was completed seamlessly over two stages for two different clients.
Stage 1 involved the complete refurbishment of the existing plant room on level 14 of 188 Collins Street to create a two level office space with a superior finish, suitable for attracting a high profile client to the newly created premium space.
To achieve the additional space required, the existing roof and structure were removed and then replaced some 2 metres above the pre-existing roof line, creating sufficient space to install a mezzanine floor and achieve a new level 15.

problem-solving skills

The Fairbrother team demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills in developing a method to safely cut windows into the existing level 14 façade, creating a striking new look for the building and from inside, unparalleled 360 degree views over Hobart.
Installation of new building services, toilets, passenger lifts and base building fit-out also formed part of this unique contract.
Stage 2 involved the creation of a high quality office fit-out for DIAC, including amongst other features Schiavello workstations, granite benchtops and retractable doors. Fairbrother was able to provide a spacious, contemporary and comfortable environment for DIAC's employees whilst maintaining DIAC's strict requirements for security.
