COMMERCIAL OFFICE BUILDING RECEIVES 4 STAR GREEN STAR - OFFICE DESIGN v2 CERTIFIED RATING

This five-storey building is a landmark for Launceston in more ways than one. Not only is it prominent in the Launceston skyline it also stands out in the whole of Tasmania for receiving a 4 star Green Star - Office Design v2 Certified Rating as a commercial office building. The building comprises a net lettable area of approximately 4600m2 providing retailing and car parking at street level and office accommodation in the levels above.

clever and Environmentally savvy

It has been independently accredited by the controlling body for the 'Green Star' rating/registration of buildings, the Green Building Council of Australia. The Green Star rating has been achieved through a combination of clever design and the selection of environmentally savvy building materials.

It is oriented to gain maximum sun and uses innovative solar wall panelling and double-glazed thermal break aluminium windows to maximise solar benefits. A central atrium allows natural light penetration to all levels of the building, reducing reliance on artificial lights. A range of recyclable building materials also have been used in the construction.

comfort is paramount

Other environmentally-friendly features include the use of ceiling mounted radiant panels which means the building can be heated without the need for air conditioning. Fresh air is distributed throughout the building through the use of hollow core concrete floor planks. Large recycled water storage units also have been fitted for cooling and general use.
