Successful Savage River Tender

Australian Bulk Minerals Pty Ltd is a miner and producer of iron pellets at Savage River on Tasmania’s West Coast. Fairbrother Pty Ltd was chosen to construct this project following submission of a competitive tender.
The project consisted of a new concrete primary crusher foundation, crusher housing and drive-on ramp for 100 tonne dump trucks, along with the associated conveyor footings, precast substation and plant supports.

Remote and steep location

The site was located on a very steep incline and limited by adjacent conveyor lines, extreme weather conditions and isolation. Concrete for the 1300mm thick walls was batched on site due to long transport distances.
The main crusher housing, internal concrete chutes and main crusher roof platform were formed and poured in one to achieve the integral strengths as designed. On completion a 125 tonne primary crusher was installed on the roof platform along with associated services, conveyors, housings and plant.
