Fairbrother Developments Project

Delivered as a Fairbrother Developments project in conjunction with Hobart City Mission, local and State Government, this inner city development delivers supportive housing services to homeless people and affordable housing solutions to those in need.

Located in Liverpool Street, Hobart, the complex provides 25 bed sit units for homeless people and a further 22 one-bedroom apartments for low income earners suffering rental stress. Of the 47 apartments, 10 have been constructed to cater for people with disabilities.

The facility incorporates an 1800’s cottage on Goulburn Street which serves as an administration building. Common areas consists of a communal kitchen, common break-out spaces and a lounge, and there is a communal laundry facility also located on site.

The complex has been designed to cater for occupants’ privacy as well as provide options for them to interact socially in a safe, supported environment. CCTV coverage and intercom facilities are provided throughout and are monitored and controlled 24/7 by the on-site concierge.

The architectural design and quality build align with the overall project objectives of providing high quality, long term and affordable housing; a safe, secure environment; coordinated on-site support services; and a diverse social mix to facilitate social inclusion and develop a sustainable community.
