Our People

Fairbrother is a major building contractor and Employer of Choice directly employing more than 530 people across Tasmania and in regional Victoria. Our diverse, highly skilled workforce encompasses a broad range of professional and trade roles across six business units. As a company committed to developing future talent, we are proud to employ more than 100 apprentices making us the largest employer of trade trainees in the Tasmanian construction industry.

At Fairbrother, we choose to directly employ our workforce rather than rely on sub-contractors and labour hire. This allows us to maintain a core workforce of dedicated, experienced and highly-skilled people capable of delivering projects across Australia.

Our Greatest Asset

The success of our business depends on the quality of the people we attract and retain. Our emphasis on teamwork and on providing an engaging, challenging and rewarding workplace allows us to maintain a workforce of the highest standard.

Testament to our ability to attract and retain outstanding employees is our company Honour Board which lists 90 employees as having been with the company for 10 years or more, 34 of whom have been with Fairbrother for 15 years, 13 for 20 years and 4 who have surpassed the 25 year milestone. Significantly, two of our most senior managers commenced their employment with our company more than 25 years ago as trade apprentices.

Training & Development

A key aspect of our success as an Employer of Choice is the company-wide emphasis on training and personal or professional development. Fairbrother has long been committed to training, not only as a means to ensuring that our people are capable of achieving the high standards that we set for them, but also as a way of preparing them for a long and rewarding career path.

From apprentices to management, our employees regularly participate in training activities and courses, held both in our own training facilities and externally.
