fairbrother major award winner at tasmanian master builders association night of nights 2008

DURING a night on which the very best of Tasmania’s building companies came together to celebrate their achievements, Fairbrother Construction and Joinery shone as a leader amongst peers. Fairbrother’s impressive haul of seven awards across diverse categories cemented the company’s position as a recognised symbol of excellence.

The applause started when Fairbrother founder and Chairman, Royce Fairbrother joined the elite few bestowed with life membership of MBA Tasmania. Stating, “Behind every great man is a great woman”, Royce acknowledged the unwavering support from his wife of almost 40 years, Thea.

The evening culminated with the prestigious Workmanship Award – an award that recognises every facet of project construction including quality, safety, design, materials, efficiency and innovation. The flagship project which secured this accolade was OneCare’s Umina Park Home for the Aged – a model development in the increasingly important aged care sector.

General Manager of Fairbrother Construction & Joinery Tasmania, Peter Killick said of the recognition, “This is testament to the dedication and hard work ethic of our people, without whom projects of this calibre would never be built.”

Since 1996 Fairbrother has won a total of 52 state MBA awards for its efforts and was the recipient of the Workmanship Award in 2004 and 2006.

Mr Killick accredited Fairbrother’s winning of the inaugural MBA OHS Award to “our commitment to the safety and welfare of our people, subcontractors and the general public.”

Other awards presented to Fairbrother during the evening included:

Excellence in Civil Construction for the Norske Skog Sec¬ondary Effluent treatment plant.

Excellence in new Construction between $2m and $5m for the Legana Commercial Centre.
