Fairbrother wins tender for LGH Children’s Ward 4K redevelopment and expansion

Health Minister announces Fairbrother as builder for vital LGH facility.

Fairbrother has been awarded the $10.2 million contract for the Launceston General Hospital’s Ward 4K redevelopment, Health Minister Michael Ferguson announced today.

The project will deliver a brand new, contemporary 36-bed integrated facility, incorporating both a Paediatric Inpatient Unit and Paediatric Inpatient Mental Health Unit.

Shell works to facilitate a new Women’s and Children’s Precinct will also be undertaken as a variation to the contract.

Fairbrother’s Northern Construction Divisional Manager Nick Freeman said the team is looking forward to delivering this project for the Launceston community.

“This is an important project for Launceston with the new facility to provide vital specialist services. We are proud to be involved in improving health services in Launceston,” Mr Freeman said.

“This project will allow us to retain our highly skilled workforce and it offers potential opportunities for us to increase our workforce here in Launceston.”
