14-Apr-2016
Media release regarding the closure of Liverpool Street

Thursday April 14, 2016

HOBART, TASMANIA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LIVERPOOL STREET CLOSURE EXTENSION

Due to inclement weather affecting crane operations at the Royal Hobart Hospital site, Fairbrother Pty Ltd would like to advise that the closure of Liverpool Street will be extended until April 24, 2016.

This time extension is necessary to safely complete the construction activities around the modular temporary accommodation at the Royal Hobart Hospital site.

As per Local Government (Highways) Act 1982 and Permit No. S_2016_0001f, Liverpool Street, between Campbell and Argyle streets, will be closed to traffic for the purpose of building construction work from 5am Saturday April 9, 2016 for a period of sixteen (16) days. This period of work may be extended subject to any unforeseen site management constraints, and/or inclement weather.

Minor delays will occur at the Liverpool-Campbell streets intersection as work vehicles access the area.

To avoid delays, drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid the Liverpool-Campbell streets intersection, where there will also be lane closures.

Southbound drivers entering the city via the Brooker Highway are encouraged to do so via North Hobart, Warwick Street or continue on to Davey Street.

Emergency Department access will remain open to both ambulance and private vehicles. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times to the Liverpool Street Emergency Entrance, Main Hospital Entrance and Zouki Café. All public parking spaces on Liverpool St between Campbell St and Argyle St will be closed for the duration of works.

PLEASE NOTE – The Emergency Department will remain open during all works

The timing of the closure during school holidays is intended to minimise any impacts.

We are committed to ensuring Tasmania receives the high quality health facility it has contracted and we apologise for any inconvenience the road closure may cause.

Our Apprentice Day is always a big day on the calendar. It’s when our newest batch of young guns from all around the state get together to meet the key people in our company, learn about our company vision and guiding principles and start to set themselves some career goals.
